Handicapped accessible RV's

I did a search and came up with nothing, but I was wondering why none of the major RV manufacturers make a handicapped accessible rv? I met with a large dealer near me and they stated they never even thought about it. Really?? My son is 20 months old and has CP, and many other neurological problems and if he ends up in a wheel chair, the only option I have thought of is a toy hauler so we could get the wheel chair in and out of the RV. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Turtle Top's Ford/Chevy Cutaway Vans have a a few different Wheel Chair lift options

They can be converted to 4wd. Turtle Top can custom build too.

I am in a wheelchair and have thought about this myself. After looking at several different options I think the toy hauler would work the best with a wheelchair, unless you have the opportunity to get into a Sportsmobile with a chairlift. Since your son is still young your vehicles will grow with him, you will be able to adjust as your needs change, and they will change. You will most likely find that the simple solutions work the best. Good luck!

Disabled Dealer magazine often has some rv's
google wheelchair lift rv and you will find some examples
Sportsmobile West in Fresno has done a number of Sprinters and 4x4 Ford Vans and they are an OEM RV maker.

It really depends on what you want, where you want to go and who/what you plan to take with you.

I had a custom toy hauler built. Basically the bathroom is larger for a wheelchair. We love it. We tow behind a v8 Quigley 4WD e150 van. It's great for state parks and forest roads, but by no means off road capable. Happy to show you if interested.

Many thanks all, I had never heard of Disabled Dealer magazine before. loren85022, if you have some pics of the toy hauler I would love to see them! Seems a toy hauler will give me the extra room for his equipment and the accessibility he will need. I'm sure I will be posting more questions as he continues to grow and things change so bear with me. I just want to make sure he is included in ALL of our family activities and be a part of what his brothers and sisters get to do also. We are blessed to have him, we actually just finalized his adoption this past Wednesday!
