Old Dog needs one answer

I am very good with map, compass & altimeter as we have done a lot of mountaineering. We own an older eTrex, but I was never satisfied with it. Now I've been looking at Garmin's 62s and I want to know one & only one thing: Do you need map source or map base to down load maps to the device?

The unit will be used for two things only.
1. Hunting to distinguish between private, public state, federal, BLM etc. lands (I found some nice maps to buy for this for the states I wish to hunt in.)
2. Blue Charts for kayaking

That's it. I am dead set on the 62s, so please don't confuse my request for an answer with you'd be happier with yada, yada, yada.

I have a 60CSX and if memory serves me correctly, the 62 is an upgraded version. On my 60 I need to use Mapsource to load maps onto the device so I would assume that you would have to do the same with the 62. I am not sure if you can get SD cards preloaded that you can just slap into the unit. It's very possible you can.
