    Default LR help, anyone?

Ok, after a couple hours of failure, I admit it, I need help. I am trying to copy my photos from the hard drive on this computer (home) to an external hard drive for backup and also to the MacBook so that I can have them to show grandparents and the like when away. I have tried a number of different options, the best seeming to be selecting my pictures, and telling LR to export the entire folder as catalog. This seemed to work great at first, it moved all my pictures onto the hard drive, all contained in the proper folders and organization...just one major problem...when I open these pictures from the external they are all unedited, which does me NO good. I have both export negatives and include previews checked. Is there a way, other then exporting each folder separately and manually, to copy all photos in their edited form onto other hard drives?

    Thanks!!

Make sure you are importing from the "catalog" as well. If you simply import and open the pictures from the backup drive you won't have all your previous adjustments tagged to it.

Ok, I'll try that tomorrow morning and see how it goes. Thanks though, I would not have thought to make sure it was importing that as well.

When Im done editing, I usually right click and export to a specific folder. That way I have a folder of the RAW originals and a folder of the edited photos. Try that.

That's exactly what I'm going to start doing from now on. I hadn't been doing that, which worked great for one computer, but now that I want to have copies on an external and my laptop I'v learned that isn't so great. I started to do what Trevor suggested, but then I thought about it and realized I just want the final edited version backed up, not the raw files, so folder by folder export it is...tomorrow's project!
