    Default Extreme Camping?

Went for a scenic drive around Princeton BC, and hit lots of snow at around 1800m mark. As I continued driving, snow level went up to 2 feet. Decided to camp at this beautiful spot, overlooking Coastal Mountains of beautiful BC. Day was gorgeous, temps started to fall as we gained elevation. When we found a beautiful spot to camp, with plenty firewood around, we decided to stop and go snowshoeing.

As the day went by temps dropped significantly, and got really COLD! Our gage showed -15* C next morning, our water and food froze completely. there was no need for my ARB fridge on this trip.
This is what we woke up to next morning

This was the first time we got to test out our RTT in these temps, and I must say being off the ground helps a bunch, loved it!

    Hope you enjoyed the pictures,
    Sam

Beautiful country and great pictures! Too cold for my taste though. I like your RTT and trailer setup. Thinking about doing something like that myself down the line.

"The familiar dreariness did not dim my sense of the desert still waiting out there. I would not forget the rocky hills studded with giant cactus, the secret canyons winding into unknown places, the purple, shadowed mountains on the horizon, the rich complex of animal life, bird life, plant life, all that strange, sometimes bitter magic of the natural world. I knew that I would be back, many times." -Edward Abbey

Great photos. Your experience reminds me of a question I wanted to ask the forum. How safe is it to pull M416/M101 in snow/icey conditions. Do you have trailer brakes? Like you I have a JK to tow with just have never dealt with trailer in snowy conditions as I am from Texas but currently find myself in Ohio. I do not have brakes on trailer other than handbrake. I have a fear of down hill grades with trailer pushing jeep on down hill grades with slick spots. Tell me what you can please. Thanks.

I used to haul trailer in snow all the time. ummm safe? LOL I dont know if I would go that far. I have been loaded down and the hair on the back of my neck standing up for several hours on end lol. Like anything safety and knowledge of winter driving conditions are key. I personally like trailer brakes.
Snow camping is fun, I have been in idaho hunting when it snowed and if you have the right setup it can be very relaxing. Don't know that I would want to go for just a night but with the Alaknak from cabelas winter camping is awesome!!!

That looks really cold to me. I can remember times when I would cross country ski into an area and camp. Looking for a stump to make a campfire on and trying to keep warm. Geez, I don't know, I am thinking that I like to be a bit warmer now when I camp. I don't even own the duds to camp like that anymore. Where did I put those wool britches and gaitors?

I have to admit though, a bit of weather sure does make a spot into a place of beauty, eh?

Thank You! Winter camping is fun but only if you have the right equipment as one of you said. Luckily we had warm sleeping bags and had no issues with finding firewood.
The minor issues that we've encountered were Frozen water jug, and propane cylinders don't like cold weather. Other than that, views were spectacular, weather was great, and there is nothing like having a hot coffee in the AM when you get out of your sleeping sack in the chilly morning.
