How Tepui Tents saved our trip

I just finished building my '91 Range Rover Classic, and with 10 days to spare before leaving for Baja, I took it out to Hollister Hills SVRA for a little light duty off road. To make a long depressing story short and happy, I flopped the Rover on its side very hard, damaging the just-finished roof rack and snorkel, broke the windshield, not to mention the whole driver's side on the truck and crunching the roof quite badly. But none of that will stop me from driving it to Baja. What would stop me from going is the fact that my brand new Tepui Autana roof tent was (very) damaged. I thought it was just the hinges and mounting hardware, but after getting it home and opening it up, I realized that the whole rear floor section was badly bent, so it wouldn't click into the front floor section. The only time I got to use it was sleeping in it in my driveway. Twice. Because I'm a nerd.

So I made an appointment to go see Evan from Tepui so he could check it out (I live about an hour and a half away), and I headed down with all of the cash I could scrape together, hoping (though not optimistic) that he would have enough parts to get my tent at least operational again. When I got there, I told him about the damage, and he just gave me a tent that had been lightly damaged in shipping and told me to bring back the damaged one whenever I get it switched over. HOLY CRAP! This guy just saved our trip. This is crazy! I was already a big fan of Tepui, but this is above and beyond customer service. If you are undecided about which roof tent to buy, I hope this sways you.

Evan, THANK YOU

I will be posting update with pictures as I do the swap this weekend. Then you should all go out and buy one. But maybe don't roll your truck as soon as you get it.

As is always the case with pictures, the hill looks lame and you are probably wondering how I managed to roll on a bunny slope. Just go with it.

It will be a while before I can afford a roof top tent, but I will keep this in mind for when I am ready. Glad nobody was hurt, and I hope the Baja trip went well

Here's a (very late) post-Baja update. Everything went great, the Tepui was magnificent, and the Rover didn't even break down!

We're looking at roof top tents again (we miss our maggiolina).

This definitely is going to steer me towards considering Tepui as a supplier. Thanks!
