Hey Pal;

I own an M101A2 trailer and I'm working on it. A lot people will said that the trailer is too big, but I'm going to give you some dimension and you will see no major diferences:

These are some of the dimensions of the M101A2 Trailer:
M101A2
Dry Weight: 1,340 LBS
Width: 73.5 inches
Length: 147 inches long

For comparison purposes, I’m putting the dimension of the AT Horizon and AT Chaser:
AT Horizon:
Dry Weight: 1000 LBS, (Completely outfitted: 1,600 lbs)
Width: 68 inches
Length: 124 inches

AT Chaser: (Comparable to the CND M101 or the M416)
Dry weight: 700 LBS (Completely outfitted: 2,000 LBS)
Width: 66 Inches
Length: 141 inches

Yeah its funny when you look at the M101A2 compaired to the Horizon/Chaser its only about 5~6 inches wider then the Horizon, and 6" longer than the chaser, and its actually lighter than the Horizon "Fully Outfitted" which I doubt includes all the camping equiptment people put in them. I have seen pictures of people towing them behind 2dr Wranglers. I dont need it to go anywhere crazy just yet (my plans for the near future unforunatly dont take me on an extended trip anytime soon)

Some people will tell you they won't tow a military trailer off road because is too big and heavy, But is ok to tow a Chaser, Horizon or CAMPUSA trailer off road.

Funny you mention the CAMPA, just for kicks here is a comparison of the CAMPA ATT vs M101A2

M101A2
Dry Weight: 1,340 LBS
Width: 73.5 inches
Length: 147 inches long

CAMPA ATT
Unloaded Vehicle Weight: 1900 lbs
Overall Width: 71"
Overall Length: 133"

So that makes the M101A2 560lbs lighter, 2.5 inches wider, and 14 inches longer. Not to bad considering is a almost bulletproof military grade piece of hardware. The CAMPAs base vehicle weight is 1900 POUNDS!! Yes it comes pretty much fully equiped but 560 lbs is a whole lot of camping equiptment in a M101A2. Just my .02

Well have you see the YOUTUBE VID of the CAMPUSA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99aqrZy_JAs

and the one with the AT Chaser: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt9Jsb2Hu7g&feature=related

and the one of this other guy pulling this trailer in Australia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wk6KJXeOM0k&feature=related

The way I see it if they can pull those trailer to the trail that they are pulling thru, I can pull mine where I'm going which is not even a fraction of those trails. I'm not doing much to mine. My thing is pulling it, use it as a base camp, explore and come "back home" to camp. Here is pictures of mine: https://www.facebook.com/#!/media/set/?set=a.1949407660106.96835.1390030955&type=3
and I have blog in here too: http://www.expeditionportal.com/for...y-M101A2-(slow)-Expedition-Trailer-conversion.

Don't mean to hijack, but I really like that fj45 trailer bed. I've seen guys use them on different full size trucks also. Good job! Hijack over, thanks

I have the same base camp style of trailer in mind. BTW an update I started painting it today. Im just rattle canning the whole thing using krylon camo (the olive color) that way if I need to I can touch it up, its how I painted my front bumper and it has held up well (its scratch resistant after it cures) and Im going to put roll on rustolium bedliner on the inside, that way I can use it as a utility trailer to if I need to.

Looks pretty good with your truck. Good job on the rattle can spray..

Thanks, I think it looks alright now that I got it painted. I like that Krylon camo paint (its how I painted my front bumper to). What is funny is the trailer has more clearance than the truck.
