The Original Trip Report on ADVENTR.CO

On Saturday, Amanda and I took a nice leisurely drive over Imogene Pass from Telluride to Ouray. We started out the day with a visit to Bridal Veil Falls for a few photos before driving over Imogene Pass. Afterwards, we stopped in Ridgway for some burgers before heading back home. It was a nice half-day trip that is close to home. Here’s a few photos from the day.

I’ve driven by these falls a number of times but never stopped and hiked up to them. That changed on this trip.

The main fall kept moving with the wind, so every second it seems the waterfall looked different. It was pretty cool to watch.

Imogene Pass….this might be the first time I have been up there with no snow or rain falling, even though it looked like it might start at any moment.

One more of my Jeep at the pass.

A great waterfall we visited on our way down to Telluride. The overcast sky made perfect conditions to get some longer exposures.

Outstanding. I must say that everytime I have been there it has been raining for me.

Raining? Really?

I did not know it was possible to rain on top of Imogene Pass! It is always too cold! haha. Then again I tend to start the day in Ouray with shorts and end up on top freezing. I always have liked that trip! I am planning to take my motorcycle up there one of these days, but the Ouray side part way down where the rock is fairly steep has me a touch worried. I am not sure how as 432lbs bike will do going up or down that. I guess I will find out the hard way some day.

Beautiful photos, as always IntrepidXJ.

Thanks for sharing... OH and when I read this I thought perhaps you had tried to go more recently than that, and wondered how late in the year it would still be passable up there.

Regards,
