Default 4 Days of Camping and 2 Days of Surfing in Big Sur

Just got back from 4 days in Big Sur. First couple days were awesome. No wind , glassy, clear skies and very hot. Waves were small, and racy but pretty long rides. Only about 3 to 5 guys out. Caught like 10 waves in the first 15 mins. Cool, clear, crystal blue water. Plenty of sun so no booties and a 3mm wettie was more than enough warmth. Session was followed by lots of water, sandwich, throwing the ball for my dog on the beach and an awesome nap under my new sunshade tent on the beach with nothing but the sounds of the waves crashing on the beach. Hike out with a big backpack and big *** LB was a ***** after a long day at the beach but it was worth it. Same thing the next day except it was better cause we came a littler earlier for the incoming tide after being fueled by carne asada and egg burritos. Last two days were foggy, windy and little to no swell. I was pretty tired/sore by then so we just lunged around the camp and at the beach.

    Next time:

-I'm bringing a solar shower. Sweat, heat and saltwater makes for sticky skin esp for the frank and beans after 4 days

-I'm staying out and surfing longer

-More sun screen on my lips

-More fishing tackle. Lost my line, lure on my first cast

New REI Habitat tent worked out really well. Perfect for a queen size air mattress, bed for my dog and a ton of pocket "shelves" for storage. Kelty Sunshade shelter worked out really well too. 10x10 and only 5 lbs

Looks like a fun time! I'm jealous...

Wow, uncrowded beaches and (more importantly) uncrowded waves...

Letting your dog run on the beach is a thing of the past here in SoCal.

Big Sur... one of my most favorite places - sometimes you can hit it right and it can feel just like the Tropics.

    Nice!

I have no idea how I missed this!

We probably passed each other at some point, even though we didn't go via Big Sur.
