when u do put the 6.2 motor. concentrate under the hood, make sure everything is perfectly done , strong radiator, good American fuel pump ac delco alt, etc, trans is secondary, u have many options on that, u can always put nv4500 or t56 that will kick any other diesel land rovers ***, as far as speed and durability

those motors are very strong and reliable , here is an example, my 94 hummer h1 with 6.5 basically the same as 6.2. kicks ***, i wanna see 4x4 that will pull me back to back, my hummer with 6.5 will brake any other trucks drive shaft or transmission , with love lol it has about 150k miles. and will go another 250k miles.

when ppl talk crap about those motors by saying it wont last more than 300k miles it makes me smile, 300k miles is around the globe travel 20 times, and when that motor goes bad after 300k. i am sure i can afford to spend another 2 grand on a new motor.

that's how i think of my rover,

    ERIC

Don't know who's truck it is, but the Mercedes air cleaner assembly is a nice touch it almost looks factory.

This is the adaptor plate I have made to fit between the engine and transmission.

to do this conversion , you will also need a concentric spacer between the flex plate and torque converter.
This part needs to be very exact.

and you will need to make changes to the existing 6.2L flex plate to be able to receive the Range Rover torque converter.

There is a spacer needed between the engine block and the P38 torque converter... The P38 4.6L has a larger torque converter
    than the 3.9L or 4.0L

I made some spacers to see what is going on between the components at the required space...

Well I have a 6.2 standing by, and I'm getting Eric's old adapter kit so hopefully I'll be following down the diesel path shortly. With his old parts (flex plate and adapters) it should go pretty smoothly once I sort out the motor mounts. I've been reviewing his thread, taking notes on his tips and parts lists, so I'll hopefully get through it quick and painlessly.

It will be going in this RRC along with a few other bits I still haven't installed.
