At this point every site is being considered. I personally find Belize to be my favorite country in Central America and I would love to end the rally there.

We are working closely with an expedition company based in Guatamala (I let you figure which one...) and will make sure to look at every possibility.

You guys are great for getting things like this going! I bet this company has the low-down on the current status of many of the possible locations!

Thanks for putting this together and for the work getting it up and running.

I have not been down there in a while but my memories of Beleize put it into my top 3 of Central America.

What route down from the West Coast USA are you considering?

The start point will be somewhere in Mexico proper, so getting there is up to the individual teams. From the west coast, I think going down the peninsula, and catching the La Paz - Mazatlan ferry would be pretty cool. I've never done that myself, but I recently took a trip to Victoria, BC, and I have ferrys on the brain.

Thats my thought. Someplace central to the country. Like Guanajuato maybe?

true enough....my point was/is, a border with lots of people crossing can go reasonably fast if run right by the officials.

I have had both Guatemala and Belize crossings go smooth and fast and also had them be rough and take forever. Costa Rica is usually more consistent.

yes Guanajuato is a strong possibility. Perhaps also an earlier party near Copper Canyon.

    all

just fyi, I think we are okay right now in term of volunteers. We will most likely need some help later so I will post something up again.

However, if anyone has some local contacts who could help with car "donation" either in Guatemala or Belize, please let me know....

If you build it, I will come. With the wife and kids too.

That will give us three drivers (daughter drives) so if people need vehicles transported back home after the end of the world we could arrange something. We are coming from Ohio, so really anywhere in the eastern 3/4 of the US is kind of "on the way".

I love that you are making it doable by any car, but I think that might limit how remote we can get. Maybe find a place that people with 2wd have to make a little hike, or hitch a ride? I can carry about 5 people on the roof and another 4 hanging off the sliders, a couple more on the front bumper etc.
