Default 2012 JK Unlimited Rubicon in Orange Crush

    Hello!

We're new owners of a soon (6 weeks) to be deliverd Orange Crush JK Unlimited Rubicon.

I've been a Toyota hard core trail guy (the trails off Table Mesa Rd, AZ and the Hammer trails back in 2001 to 2007). Once that wore off, we've gone back to our exploration and historic day trips, with longer trips supported by our StarCraft RT10 trailer.

My primary rig is our expedition preped '09 Power Wagon, Cactus Red.

The Rubicon will be daily driven by my wife - it's replacing her '05 Tacoma. It will also take over for most of the weekend trips. The PW is an awesome truck, but it gets 8 to 9 MPG when aired down. It's not uncommon for us to spend $80.00 or more for fuel on a short day trip.

Current plans for the Rubicon are to leave it close to stock - perhaps a 2" coil lift and a true 33" tire, a 255/80-17 BFG KM2's, will be added.

Can anyone recommend a quailty set of 2" springs? I've looked at the Eibach coils, but haven't found much more than that.

    Thanks,

    Mark

AEV is coming out with a 2.5" suspension which will be geared for camping/exploration/overlanding -meaning it will be designed with a great ride but also weight carrying ability, great handling as primary focuses.

Should be out just about any day. According to AEV the suspension will run under $1,000. It won't include AEV's front control arm relocation brackets, but those will be available seprately. I would get those too.

Here's a link to the AEV forum's JK parts page, where there have been a couple of threads on the suspension. http://forum.aev-conversions.com/forumdisplay.php?f=4

AEV will also offer turn key vehicles equipped with the 2.5" suspension and 33's, as well as other goodies.

Sounds like a killer combo between the Powerwagon, trailer and JK you will have all your bases covered. And I am hearing nice things about the new engine setup in the JK

Congratulations. You'll love the '12 Jeep. A buddy of mine just bought one last fall. The new engine and tranny are a great match.

We're doing just the opposite, adding a Toyota to the mix.

We have a 2011, highly modified, Mango Tango, Rubicon Unlimted for the hard core trail trips. We just bought a 2012 Tacoma, Dbl Cab, Short Bed, to be used for the more overlanding style trips. Tacoma will be moderatley modified to, hopefuuly, hit our gas mileage goal 15-16mpg. The Jeep is closer to 10.5-11mpg, doesn't matter if we're empty or pulling the Chaser.
