Caught some first snow in Norcal on a trip through Plumas Natl Forest.

My cheap wallmart roof top tent solution works surprisingly well.

Haven't posted for a while but here's an update what I've been up to. My timing belt tensioner pulley and and idler puller were shot. I assume that's from all the numerous water crossings. Engine sounded like a diesel from all the noise. I decided to replace them along with a fresh timing belt and tensioner. Having everything torn apart I noticed an abundance of leaking oil from various gaskets. So I decided to pull the engine and do a complete refresh on it, including head gasket and valve stem seals.
While Im at it Ill do an electric fan conversion and do a thorough clean of the engine and bay.

Anything else I should do while having the engine on the stand?

What's wrong with it? Does it wobble or something?

Question: How do you keep straight all the bolts, screws and fasteners related to tearing out an engine and rebuilding it?

The pulleys were making excessive noise. Very loud, screeching noise. I either organize bolts in boxes or temporarily put them back on where they were.

while waiting for parts I installed a mount for my Ipad Topo GPS navigation.

The mount is a modified Ipod holder that I got from Rite Aid on clearance for $9.99. I chopped up the metal bracket, bended and welded it to my liking.
The bracket was then bolted down to the plate under the center instrument gauges. I had to channel the plastic bezel for it to sit clean.

So far so good. Finally I wont have to juggle the steering wheel and Ipad at the same time. Ipad plugs in, charges and plays music from my stereo deck.

:smiley_drive:Win win.

I try to put the bolts back into the holes they came from after I remove a part. Typically, you can thread them in a few turns. If I can't put the bolts back in a few threads, I try to put the bolts in the part they belong to (which works until you pick up the part a few days later and they all fall out)

When I did mine, i used Ziploc bags with some painters tape on them that i wrote where they were from on. I also try to put as many bolts back as I can as I go...
