Wanted: Used Sand Ladders

Looks like the good guys over at Adventure Trailer have been kind enough to lend me a pair of sandmats. Now i just have to see if i have time to run out there and pick them up.

How strong are those 'landing' mats? Would they work well?

They're steel, so they're heavy as hell. Most sand ladders are aluminum for that very reason. The steel ones are used for things like runways on soft ground (among other things) and interlock with tabs. They aren't bridging ladders, and will bend if used in that manner.

The aluminum ones are rare or custom made, so that explains the price difference. I really like the "plastic" mats that can be used for bridging and sand ladders, but to be clear I don't own any of them. In most applications, I consider them "expedition bling", with more form than real function.

I got some like these ex military. I used a wire brush and drill to clean all of the rust off, and sprayed them with a hammerite spray paint. They have worked great in mud, deep snow, and soft ground.

They are heavy as hell, so eat your wheaties. They were cheap which is why I chose them.
