To brake or not to brake?

Thanks for all the input. I think I am going to move forward with the hand brake. I'm on the fence with the electric brakes - it would be nice to have the added stopping, but my tow vehicle doesn't have wiring for a brake controller and I don't think the weight of a loaded trailer will be too much...I hope!

I do like the idea of the trailer being rock solid when parked. I do plan to add a RTT eventually so it makes sense to add the brakes now.

If you visit one of the on line trailer stores you will likely find a plug in set up for wiring a brake controler. More vehicles were st up for a plug in harness that I ever imagined when I last looked.

Interestingly, my 2010 Jeep JK Unlimited, with tow package, was set up for a plug in 7 pin harness and conection, but not a plug in brake controler harness. It wasn't to hard to wire one in though.
