Well we went to an outdoorsmans expo yesterday, me my dad my brother and my buddy Paul, had a lot of fun, and on the way back stopped at Pauls place to take a look at the dry burban. Il take some pics later today to put up when i get back down there, but basically....I think another coat is in order. Apparently I musta had some buildup in the sandpaper at a couple of spots while wet sanding and didnt realize it, cuz in a couple of places you can see somewhat deep grooves in the paint that the last layer couldt quite cover up. So i'll throw on one more layer and see what happens then. Expect pics either tonight, which is what im really hoping for, or tomorrow at the latest.

Alright, the last coat of paint didnt go quite as planned, so now we shall add one more for a total of 6 coats. Hope 6 is all it will need. here are the pictures from the last coat done, notice in the hood what appear to be scratches, Im guessing thats from buildup in the sandpaper when i wetsanded. theres more, i tried to get a picture of it but the light wasnt working for it.

Be aware, the last coat was closer to a 35/65 mixture as opposed to the usual 50/50 I have been doing, so theres a bit more orange peel and runoff but that should be fixed with another layer plus wetsanding.

its getting really reflective tho! look when my buddy Paul starts cutting some metal at the shine in the paint! :P

Good work Calplaya and remember the first run out in the bush is going to add a lot of scratches and charm to that `Bling´look! Thats one of the reasons why I just bedlinered my whole truck. It hides the imperfections and actually can stand a beating!

Well I've been mulling it over in my head the last week as to weather or not to continue with the paint. I rather like the way it looks as it is now even with the slight imperfections here and there, but as Chiliwak mentioned, it will get more imperfections being off road and all, and i never wanted a street queen, but a trail king. So I decided tonight to leave well enough alone and began removing all the the tape and i have to say, it looks DAMN good! Aint gunna be winning any awards at any car shows but that was never the point. I wont be wetsanding it or adding a clearcoat either, so when i take pictures tomorrow, what you see is what it will look like...until i decide to do something later if i ever do. Anyway, not a whole lot of progress, the interiors been all stripped almost, gunna paint more of the plastic trim, still havnt gotten my rocker panels (going on week 4) and tomorrow im going to spray some rust reformer on the bottom to get it ready for bed liner. I still have a lot of cool ideas for this baby, but money is tight so its not coming together nearly as fast as I was hoping it would. Thank God it will be summer soon, so when i get to CO Il at least be able to do a lot of what will be left on the list done without a shop. Anyway, thats just the quick update. Later.

Alright, heres some pictures for your enjoyment! dosnt look half bad, looks mean, trail ready, and better then when i started haha :P

And after those pictures were taken i sprayed the whole bottom part with rust reformer, so that in a day or so it will be dry and i can spray down some truck bed liner. i do plan on eventually cutting out and welding in new panels in most places, but im running out of time right now before the big move, and since i wont have a shop for a while, i gotta make due. I did order new rocker panels, but so far they havnt come in the mail, i would really love to get those done before heading out...

well i did some more work to the Burban, after the rust reformer dried i wiped down the lower portion of the truck and got it clean and then used up a can of rustoleum truck bed liner. i really wish i had my rocker panels in before doing it, but oh well. looks halfway decent at least.

I put in new weatherstipping on this door, and the thing didnt want to close all the way cuz of how stiff the new WS is, so i did this to force it closed until it will have a chance to settle

I plan on, when funds become available, take out that cloth part and put in diamond plate metal, with a folding down table. I cant wait, but my wallet sure can haha :P

haha thanks Shultzie! glad you liked it haha! I too love these older burbans, I had the opportunity to buy a 93, which i do like, but when i saw this 89, I just had to have it, their kind of rare around here and ive always loved the way they looked and they are super reliable, always a big plus oh and im moving out to Denver for a while, might go to school there if a couple other things dont pan out. But Il also begin testing for an entry level police officer position there soon too, so I really hope that pans out, but we will see.

Good choice glad you got what you wanted and reliable is always key!! Good luck in Denver with your testing. I lived in Lakewood for a bit and was nice. I'm now out in the mountains and hope to never leave! lol
