Wow, this is looking great. I have a question about the straps for the jerry can mounts. It looks like the retaining/locking strap hinges in the middle? If that is the case, you might want to reverse their respective positions so that they don't foul each other when you try to get to the jerry cans. Sorry if you already thought of/noticed that, or if the picture gives the wrong perspective.

    edit:
nevermind, the hinge is on top.

    Cheers,

    Mike

Been working on the cabinets on the soon to be camper 109, The larger hole in the right side cabinet will be for a sliding engle fridge.

We decided on this cabinet configuration even with the blind spot it created. We will be converting the space 8" above the floor to a bed that will convert to a seat kinda like the old VW westy's.

This will be the configuration we use in the MAYA expedition and change it up if need be afterwards.

We are really enjoying this part of the build! there is more time talking and sketching than actual work performed.

There will be a drawer on the left side of the rear cargo area that will be 32" deep.

We decide to make the cabinets quick detach, so they can be taken out of the rover with only a handfull of nuts and bolts.

Love your build. Really great work. Can't wait to see it how it looks with the new shoes. Also very curious to know what kind of mileage you get with that engine. Great work!!!

Well it lives! I have lots of photos to post up about how I got it to here. I have been busy with lots of things and only working on this in the shadows late hours to get it on the road and ready for its November trip to the Maya expedition. Here is a few pics of it and one next to a stock 88 to give an idea how it compares.

    Cheers Ed

Thanks guys here is a few more pics of how its looking now! I have installed a 12 gal water tank under body in the side mount fuel tank location. I installed my battery under body as well and have done a ton of other items to get ready for the MAYA end of the world trip.

the webasto airtop 2000 will cook you out ! We have stickered it up for the trip for fun my GF loves decals so we have been having fun with them and will collect more as we go. Nice thing is they come off real easy for the clean look after we return from our trip. Kathryn has done most of the interior work includeing the color combos . It has been a fun build and we are looking forward to the 15k mile journey we have planned.
I built a propane tank mount so we didnt have to use a bunch of those little 1 pound bottles.

We have a TON! more work to do but it feels good to be so close and to see things come togather over a years time, the roof rack and drive train upgrades are next.

    Cheers Ed

And here is some ROAM OFFROAD axles along with a set of 4.75 gears and a detroit locker to give the Rover the strength it needs for its future journeys

I have to say after driving this rover and comparing it to my other series rovers the power of the OM617 is far better than the best running 2.25 I have been around and the stopping power of the ROAM OFFROAD disc brakes is far better than I could have imagined.

I will keep the updates comming over the next few weeks as our journey starts NOV. 10th
