yep, think I am just gonna get the Summit racing distributor, and pull the ignition module out and put all my pertronix HEI flame thrower stuff and adjustable vacuum advace in it and call it done. The distributor is only like $80 and a new shaft by itself is $40 and the shaft that is bad also has a lot of marks on it down in the housing so bet most of the bushings and stuff are worn so might as well get a new housing and this seems the cheapest route and still have great performance too.

Found my timing issue

Looks like I am not done ordering parts. .......

not sure which part you are looking at here can you explain

take a look at the far right, the pin that is leaning to the center should be straight up and down.

It is actually loose and wobbling around and has worn the surface down. the problem is it is to the point where it was causing the weight to stick and not letting the mechanical advance work like it should.

That is what a smallblock rear main seal looks like sitting in a big block.

Called summit and the new one plus the dizzy are now on the way. Guess I will be putting pistons on the rods and file fitting the rings for now.

Ok what the heck? I am confused, I set the sprockets just like your supposed to but it seems like I am 180 out for some reason.

The exhaust just closed the intake is about to open, the piston is at the top, the dots are lined up but is just dont seem right...

See lifter is about to go up

Shouldnt both lifters be on the back of the cam with no lift at all?

The lifters are on the base circle like I would think an I can adjust the valves.

Never mind I figured it out now, re read the book and says for setting valves put it to firing tdc with lifters on base circle. I was just thinking backwards, just getting the cam and crank in phase is when the dots face each other.
