Thread: Rotopax Mounting

    Default Rotopax Mounting

Anyone mounted a Rotopax to an AEV Rear bumper with tire swing? Rotopax also has the 2 Tire Mounting Brackets with Strap system that ratchets to the spare tire but didn't know if they containers would stay in place.

I think there was a thread on it awhile back referring to this, or maybe it was about their own new tire carrier with integrated gas container. I'm sure others will help identify if the search fails to find it.

I wish I could help, I have an LOD Rear Bumper/Tire Carrier. My Rotopax mounts for it arrive tomorrow or early next week. I can't wait.

Curious why you wouldn't just go with the 10.2 gal AEV fuel tank that's made for your system.

I currently have an 09 Jeep JK with Rotopax strapped around my tire with original bumper, etc..From my perspective they work as advertised. I drove from Chi- California with them on the back. Once in California , I went to Death Valley, Mojave Desert and Joshua Tree and have done the trails. They stayed on and had no problems off-roading. I was caring 2 3 gallons on each side. The ONLY problem is once there on you can't open your rear tail-gate. The pax obstruct the door handle, so you have to take them off to open the back. Thats a pain. I imagine if they were attached to a swing-out tire carrier that wasn't attached to the door then it wouldn't be a problem. But, I'm upgrading to the AEV bumper, etc.. so I won't be needed them anymore.

Did you use the ratchet strap system from Rotopax to attache them to the Spare?

i built my own and mounted it to a Smittybilt rear bumper with tire carrier

Both sides can carry 2 Rotopak tanks. Passenger side can carry 2 of the longer 4gallon tanks
The mount also doubles as my CB radio antenna mount (also future ham radio antenna) and a small basket.

Wonder if this is compatible? http://www.savannajones.com/products/12202_2100.htm

I carry 2 rotopaxs on my roof rack, but recently got the AEV tank and not sure how much I will ever use them.

That does work if you have a spare that the center cap comes out. I'm running AEV beadlocks and the center is solid.
