Talking Looking for a 4x4 in Australia!!!

    Hi there,

Only 5 weeks until my flight to Australia. A friends and I are going to be buying a vehicle and travel around the country going on 4x4 trails, beaches and tours of the outback when ever we can.

Looking for something with a longer wheel base like a good Defender 110 or a troopy.

Not concered about how old or new, just want something reliable.

Would also prefer diesel, but dual fuel would be alright with me too.

If you know of any good deals in your area please let me know, looking to spend no more then $10,000 on a vehicle.

    Thanks!
    Mike

    Default RE: AU Campers

    Hi Mike
You can find a LC Troopy set up for less than $10,000 on a few sites. Here are two I look at from time to time http://www.caravancampingsales.com.au/ and http://www.carsales.com.au/ There are many more sites, just narrow search to state you will be arriving in. There are a ton of campers down there, so its not too hard to find one. Hope this helps.

My buddy just got back from down under and picked me up some 4x4 mags from down there. Man they got some cool stuff down there that most of us have probably never even seen or heard of. Watch your speed down there. A friend who lives down there told me they have camera everywhere clocking and taking pictures of people who speed and then get a ticket in the mail. Of course if you don't live there, how could they send you a ticket. Are you just vacationing or are you moving there. If just visiting, have you checked into what is involved with a buying and registering a vehicle if you aren't a citizen, maybe it's no big thing IDK???

Yeah I wont have too much trouble getting set up, since I know I am going to be there for 1 yr or less I can use my Canadian drivers license, and registration will be not too big of a deal, we'll just have to put our friends address down for ours while we are traveling around.

Queensland is really bad for the speed camera's!! but they also have a warning sign a few hundred meters infront of most camera's anyway haha
