UPDATES AT THE BOTTOM OF THE THREAD!

So, I bought a salvaged RV as a doner vehicle for my Ambovan project. Build thread is here

http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/63380-AmboVan-Restarted

I have the first batch of stuff up for sale via Craigslist, dont have everything listed, but if there are some RV bits you are interested in, just ask. Most of the stuff listed would be a PITA to ship, but if you really want it, and want to pay for it, I'll figure it out. A note on the question of "Does it work?" - The base vehicle had 30k miles on it when it was rear-ended by a semi. Stove, Fridge, AC, all were undamaged. Judging from the rotton food in the fridge, it seemed to be working fine at the time of impact. I think the vehicle has been kicking around the auction yard/salvage yard for something like a year. SO, I haven't actually seen any of this stuff run. I have every reason to think it was working at the time of impact. I think the listed prices are pretty low, that is to account for the risk that they dont run, or will need work to get back to optimum function. Think you want a lower price to account for this risk? Make me an offer, I may take it. I will not offer refunds on the AC/Fridge. With that out of the way...

Here is the verbiage from my craigslist ad -

1999 E450 Class C Minnie Winnie Motorhome - Selling most of the RV accessories

Coleman Mach AC unit - 14,800 BTU, with Thermostat, ceiling grille - $200
Norcold N621 Fridge - 3 way - $300
TrueCharge 40+ Battery Charger - $90
TrippLite PU 1200 inverter - $80
PLUS
Windows
Light Fixtures
Gas oven/Stove
Tanks - (2) grey/Black, (1) fresh
Compartment doors
Entry door

Not listed? I might have it.

I bought this to use most of the van interior/bodywork/doors, and but some van parts may be available now - Beauty caps for the wheels, maybe front bumper, maybe hood? I'll sell the running boards also.

Hydraulic pumps and rams, plus all the controllers are available for both the slideout system, and the leveling system

DOORS/INTERIOR/RUNNING GEAR ARE NOT FOR SALE (YET)

Alright, sold a few things, I'll try to be a bit more specific on prices - I have the RV items available now as individual items on Craigslist.

I'm also starting to look for a buyer for the engine/tranny - V-10, just over 30k miles on the van, I'm thinking $2500 for the combo. I've seen new long blocks (only) for about $2600, so I think I am pretty good on pricing. Needs to be a responsible buyer, if someone wants to buy the engine and tranny while they still can see the doner vehicle run and drive, I need to have the vehicle disassembled carefully enough that I can still use what is left after the E/T is gone - I assume it will be easiest to just take the cab off.

I also did some pricing research on the complete hydraulic leveling system, has two pairs of flip-down jacks, pump, controller, hoses, etc. I'm looking at 500-600 complete, OzarkRockrat has dibs, but we will see after this weekend.

Have a 2nd hydro system for the slideout, we would have to dig into that a bit.

May Update

Thanks for the bump etcatmeat, time to push on the rest of this rig a little more.

Looks like this now:
m_P4070037.jpg

All the front van body panels are available, grille, front bumper, etc. A selection of interior trim - plastic kick panels, side pillar plastic, doghouse cover.

Cowboy4x4 has dibs on the engine/tranny if we can work out a deal to have it gone by the end of May, but if there is other interest, I'll listen. I think I could get more on Craigslist, but then I'd have to deal with Craigslist people molesting the parts they dont take - I'd like to think I can trust the expo crowd to be a bit more respectful with the disassembly process

Battery charger is sold, so are the access doors. Most of the remaining stuff from the RV is still available, see the links to craigslist posts a couple of posts above

I'm keeping the disc axle - A dana 70 DRW, but I will have a drum dana 70 available after the swap.

Soon my neighbors will tire of this in the alley, luckily they think the Ambovan is a cool project.:sombrero:

What ratio is the D70 and what ratio do you run currently in your drum version? I am looking at going from 4:10 to 4:56 or 5:13 if swapping might work for you (if you don't ask you will never know). Word of warning though I did just grind off the locating pins on mine.

And depending on how rough I get with trimming my fenders this weekend I may be in the market for those as well.

But I will have to catch up with you at OVEX. Not home for long enough before then to get anything fun done.

Installed! Everything works great! (after I figured out that I mixed the front left and front right hydraulic lines up!)
