Width is always going to be the issue and planning to prevent any issues will take away from the adventure of NOT knowing what is around the next bend...will just have to take it slow and make sure my reverse camera is working!![]()

Nothing against our neighbors to the south or north...but I have spent so many years outside the good ole USA...I have 1000 places to see inside my own country before I go outside again!
Having owned a really tall vehicle (4wd sportsmobile) I would rather have tall than wide.[/QUOTE]
Lance, did you sell your Sportsmobile?

Going north out of the US would be fine. Its south where you could end up in trouble driving something like a Humvee. If I had the money I would have one, width be dammed. They will go just about anywhere, of course the ones I drove were bought and paid for by the US taxpayer so I didn't worry too much about breaking one.
There arent a lot ofH1's for several reason.
1. They cost a lot
2. People hate them for some strange reason, like a legitimate hate, i will never understand
3. Gas mileage isn't the greatest either.
Don't get me wrong, i am a huge fan of hummers. I have an H2 and H3 and love them. I am looking to add an H1 to my line up.
The H1 is a great choice for expedition, it'll get you everywhere, heck driving through 3 feet of water with no consequences is awesome! Your not gunna have an trouble negotiating terrain.

good luck with ur H1 and definitely post up some pictures. I agree i would be worried about the width, i have a 92 suburban and i have issues with being too big for some places and it means you definitely have to think a little further ahead lol
