I'm mainly interested in shocks for my Rangie. I like the nice, soft stock springs, and will limit the lift to spring isolators, as with yours. I had this on my old 96 Disco, and liked it with the 245R16 tires. When my stock shocks need replacing (probably now), I'd like to go with some that complement the soft stock springs. Was thinking of standard Bilsteins. . .

BTW: How do you like those LR HD springs? I've been interested in trying those too. . .

I feel like the shocks are def softer than OME which I've used before on other Discos. The HD springs are nice, as you say, they give that softer but still capable feel and with the rubber all the way around its fairly muted. Ironically I'm running 235/85's right now as street tires (BFG ATs) and seriously considering going down to 245's to get just a little bump over stock ride height but more response with the 5 speed.

Basically if these shocks go I'd consider Bilsteins or maybe go big with Fox or what have you-but I think I'm keeping the LR HD springs on this build for awhile.

Well what no one stated is the upper rear shock bolts might break.

Luckily I have a amazing business partner who can weld so we beefed them up a bit. I only got the rear done today (late start) So she is a hot rod.
Finishing up tomorrow. Will have pics.

Your Disco looks great. Perfect stance. I'm definitely going to consider that set up. So how does the ride compare to stock? Are those 245R16s you're running?

Stock felt like soft marshmallows. This is way more responsive, but not so much it would rattle your teeth. Tires are 245 75 16.

That looks very good...and def lends itself to me going down to 245/75's for my next set of street tires.

I am a firm believer that a 32in. tire needs to be regard on a disco. I have a 1.4 ratio transfer case with 255/85r16s and it is geared just about right for my disco.

Did you just swap over the struts, or did you get new springs as well? What was your total lift after all was said and done? Have you ridden in a truck with the OME spring/strut set up to compare it? One more, I know that for those springs without like 100kg on the front the lift is said to be more then 2", so im assuming your truck went up like 3", did you get any driveline vibes at all? I know the driveshafts on the disco get out of balance with a lift more then 2".

Edit - DUH, just re-read the first post, both. Still the last questions remain.

Funny you say that Jeremy, I did start to notice some driveline vibration this afternoon. I am still on rotoflex but not for long. Looks more like 5 inches but my stock suspension was seriously worn out. I would guess it is close to 3". Once I put on my custom bumpers it will probably end up around 2.5".
