What kind of support did you have in that area when the bars were in the ither direction?

Probably none. So why would it mather now?

Just a tought!

Lucky - If you look at the first picture there is a dirt mark from where the cross bars were turned in the other direction. They were cut by the original owner to bolt through the floor, and screw into the aluminum around the edge. My thought was by turning them, I am reducing the load bearing area and potentially creating a pressure point that could later fail.
