    Cool?

if it hasn't already been done, replace the steering shaft
'00 Dodge Dakota, modified gibson exhaust, AFE intake, Cobra CB, Astro Topper/Yakima rack system, Winch Ready front bumper, Milemarker E8000 winch, 4.10 gears, ssbc rear disc conversion, a few extra lights and a build that will never end.

    '00 Dakota

New project, 2009 Kawasaki Versys, will be more of a street oriented expo vehicle, but it's still in the planning stages.

My first work this month, save for putting in a battery, was to further Ryan as a tow beast. He needed a hitch:

I sourced a receiver hitch from a '90 Dodge 1-ton service truck. I'll be going back to the parts yard and grab the 4.10 geared Dana 60HD and the 11k pound rear springs for the free lift. I have some stacked blocks in the current rear suspension to do away with, afterall.

The morning after the hitch install, my wife and son immobilized Ryan by using the wrong key in the ignition lock cylinder. The "Mitsubishi" key they used ruined the cylinder, had to be extracted with a 4-lb sledge hammer after they jammed it in with a smaller hammer...wouldn't work they told me, then read the key. Around my work schedule, I tore into the column to replace the broken cylinder.

Since that repair, I have driven the truck to work several times and have determined that I'll likely delete the 6" lift. I think a return to near stock height and opening the front fenders will be a better solution for big tires. I discovered the cause of one clunk to be missing shock bushing material and another to be the rear sway bar links all bent to hell trying to control the rear, stacked lift blocks (BAD!!).

I am gathering all the stereo gear I have, preparing to install a 500W amp, speakers, CD changer and similar audio devices. I found my CB antenna wire splitter and have plans for 2 whips. Sometimes I use the truck for work and converse with contractors via CB.

That is all to report today.
