Hi Gang!
Quick Question. I want to use the space where the charcoal canister is for some thing else. Can I just remove it and make a loop out of the hose?
TIA!

Do you have to do state emissions? It might cause you to not pass.
Nope, no emissions test in Florida.
So do you think I can just pull it and connect the two hoses together and be good to go?

The hose that comes from the fuel tank to the canister is a vent, and must be vented. I would suggest sticking perhaps a fuel filter over the end to keep out dust and gook. The hoses that go from the engine to the purge solenoid and from the solenoid to the canister can be removed, and the vacuum port on the engine must be plugged. (Keep the solenoid or you'll get a check engine light.)
And hooking the two hoses together would apply engine vacuum directly to the tank, which is NOT what you want to be doing.
And this will fail a visual emissions inspection ideally, though my jeep just passed it's colorado test, including the underhood visual. (Which begs the question... What were they looking for??)
You'll get a gas smell from the vent hose once in a while, so be mindful where it terminates.

Thanks Deuce. Question: if the canister is sealed and one port goes to the fuel tank and the other goes to the purge solenoid, isn't that putting engine vacuum to the tank?
