There are doing it again in 2013, for the 4th time since 1997.

Since the early pioneers first drove Peking to Paris in 1907 the ERA has organised three further editions of this remarkable event. The Peking to Paris is the longest and toughest challenge anyone can drive in a vintage or classic car.

Anyone interested?

All I need to do is buy a 1930s Jaguar SS100, like the one in the Youtube photo. Price, about $300K. :sombrero:

While watching the video, I didn't see any AWD or 4x4 vehicles. I like the #97, a pre-war Chevrolet, outfitted as if campaigning in races in Argentina. Juan Manuel Fangio drove a car like this before he went on to Formula 1.

Here is the route: http://www.pekingparis.com/route.html

I know a couple who did it. Total costs were around $60K, plus lots of repair costs to the car when they were finished.
It would be fun, but $60K would be enough do the Dakar on a bike.
