Where do you purchase your tires?

Local shop, Van Zeeland's, matched prices from online for me, no problem, after shipping and tax on the online ones, it came out to the same for tires+install at my local shop. I'd say find a local place as your best bet..just avoid the major retailers like tires plus or sears.

I can attest to SOME bad Tires plus shops seeing as I worked there for a short period of time. That should say something right there, I learned a lot, yes, but going in I had no experience Some of the guys these major retailers hire just lack some basic smarts.. it makes you wonder some times..

But don't get me wrong, when we got a fresh shipment of tires piled up at the bay doors ready to be sorted in the racks, (all by hand, and some are HEAVY!) It meant a night of drinking , pizza, and foot ball launching with our truck tire air tank (huge valve that releases the whole pressurized tank of air in one burst) It was fun time for sure ...that is til they laid off us part timers in 2009

They've all treated me well, it pretty much comes down to which one has the tires I'm looking for in stock.

Amazon.com I found they had the best prices and if pay attention you can find free shipping. I bought two Toyo A/Ts in 325/65/18 for 500. I had them mounted and balanced for $15 a tire at my local Dodge dealership. Saved over $200.

Highland tire is where I buy all my tires, They stand behind thier products, Meet others prices and warrenty the tires.
I had a set of Hankooks that became out of round "all 4 bad batch" They replaced them without question and I went with a different style of tire.

Believe it or not; the Chevy dealer. They have a big Mr Goodwrench sign that say they will match any tire price. When I swapped to 265’s last year, I wanted to run them on OEM wheels.
As the truck is still under warranty, I wanted buy-in that the dealer would be OK with the bigger tires. They said “no problem”.
So they matched tirerack price, mounted ‘em and blessed the whole process.
Very pleased…maybe I am just lucky…but we have a pretty good Chevy dealer nearby….

FWIW; I was at the dealer last week…the sign is still there…

I do buy a bit of stuff off the web but have found the best way to buy tires is from a good local shop. It's getting to the point that many shops won't mount tires that you didn't buy there anymore. Either that or they charge so much to do so that it's just not worth it. Can't say I blame them for that.

I've bought tires only twice online and both times I had issues. The first time was a tire that needed a lot of weight. The installer doesn't want to waste their time with tires that they didn't make any money on and the seller wants to blame the installer. The second set I bought were out of round. They did refund my money, but it took over a month for them to "investigate". In their defense they were 12" tires for my Festiva, which are hard to find these days and the tires were from Serbia.
