Good to know. Did you just get new wheel bearings or change the studs?
So its a Ford drivers side drop king pin 60. Betcha Quiqley spec'ed it and Dana built it with off the shelf parts that you wouldn't see together normally on a Ford or GM or Dodge 60 but you would on a Quigley 60.![]()
OK had a reply from Quigley. Seems like they put a D60 from a 1986 K30 in it originally!!!!!!!!! And this was a 1998 conversion!!!!!!!
So at least I know a bit of what to look for. The main issue I have is that I thought the Chev stuff had smaller diameter holes in the wheels. Good news as far as I can suck out of the Pirate D60 bible is that either Chev or Dodge should work including brake spacing and that they are both lug centric so there should be no issues with my new wheels. (famous last words).
I'm not lost! I just don't know where I am going!!!!

You are SO lucky they were able to answer you! I called Advanced 4x4 to ask about my van and they didn't have any records from that far back. BUT, they were extremely helpful and pointed me in all the right directions so kudos to them and kudos to Quigley!

OK so Chris is sorting out getting me some Dynatrac Pro 60 hubs that will hopefully be delivered by the weekend (expo is just around the corner). I figured rather than try and hunt something up 2nd hand I would just get new ones and know they will fit (hopefully pleaaasssseee OK why isn't there a smiley of someone praying, who needs all those happy ones).
This is what I would really like to do in the long run and has always been in the back of my mind when selecting the 19.5 wheels. UJOR front end and F550 axles with 45 degree turning radius to make up for the extra couple of feet of wheelbase I have. Getting a wider wheelbase would not hurt the stability either. Only real concern I have with then is the unit bearings.

Is that the 550 front end you were looking at?

Yeah but it is in Atlanta and the guy wants $1500 for it without the 8 lug conversion (no worries for me as I would just get an adapter made to suit the 8x6.5 anyway). I will keep looking for something around the $2000 for both front and back with the same gearing and preferably LSD. (tight arse eh)

Nice axle porn.Shipping would be the killer on it though.
I have replaced a lot of unitized wheel bearings and balljoints on these newer trucks, not so many packable wheel bearings and kingpins on the older trucks. I think I would keep your kingpin, serviceable wheel bearing axle and take some grease, grease gun, and wheel bearing nut socket with me on trips. A box of latex gloves, rags, and a plastic bucket to keep the grease/gun in will keep you and your rig non greasy.
