If they're aluminum what's the reason they weigh the same as the M101A2?? Extras built in?

I think the main reason they switched to aluminum is the corrosion resistance, not to save on weight.
At the end of the day though, the trailer still needed to be strong enough to carry the gear and be stout enough to take the offload abuse dished out by a HMMWV.
I've owned both the M101A3 and these M1101 trailers. The older model had a single steel sidewall. The M1101/M1102 has a sidewall made of 2 separate vertical aluminum pieces.
it does say there is some chromoly in the construction
I bought an M1101 last fall with new run flat tires and no top and paid $1500 in the midwest. Guess I should have looked around some more, but it was only 5 miles from my home. Now it is setting in my pole barn waiting for me to figure out what kind of top to put on it, so Ican't wait to see what you are going to do with yours.
yours is bigger than mine - bleh!

Now the fun begins. Inventory broken and missing parts. Sanding, sanding and sanding.
The factory has helped every day. Silver Eagle has been building trailers for 75 years. Thanks to military dept exec, Jeff Passmore.

Before you think that Silver Eagles are for the Hummer guys and the military, check this trailer for the Jeepers. Mil Spec, when only best will do.
Silver Eagle:
"The L-WATTS shares many components with its intended
prime mover, making it interoperable and easy to swap parts
in field. Silver Eagle has a history of developing military trailers
that meet the demands of severe duty environments. The L-WATTS matches the maneuverable narrow track of 63.5 inches."

Nice selection, what are the plans?
Is that your airstream, Bambie?
That L-WATTS is $6000+ btw.

The Bambi is a 2000. Great for weekenders when a full kitchen and bath makes sense.
Four trailers are starting now. One guy wants a basic cargo trailer. Two of us are going expedtion grade - kitchen, sleeping quarters, storaged. One is undecided.
