Another Hummer Trailer Build

Okay, myself and 3 guys are building 4 trailers at the same time. I drove to Ft. Lewis to pick up our "war trailers.". These are 1 ton Silver Eagle M1102s. They are great trailers: all aluminum, Torsion axles, 37" tires with runflats.

Man, I'd love to build one of those out....

Big time potential...any solid plan concept drawings?!

Good luck with them! Pat

Short term for camping this summer:

1. Complete paint to match truck paint
2. Upgrade to LED lights
3. Linex bed
4. New top
5. Water tank
6. Heater and LPG tank and mount
7. New rims to match truck

Long term plan for this winter: ???

The price for these were 950 to 1000 plus 10% bid fee. On the east coast they go around 800. I guess they get more to sell.

Good deal, I paid $500.00 for a M101A2 not top, Then the 1102's started to show up.
I can't wait to see the end result.
Post as you go.

Observer
I think the main reason they switched to aluminum is the corrosion resistance, not to save on weight.

At the end of the day though, the trailer still needed to be strong enough to carry the gear and be stout enough to take the offload abuse dished out by a HMMWV.

I've owned both the M101A3 and these M1101 trailers. The older model had a single steel sidewall. The M1101/M1102 has a sidewall made of 2 separate vertical aluminum pieces.

I bought an M1101 last fall with new run flat tires and no top and paid $1500 in the midwest. Guess I should have looked around some more, but it was only 5 miles from my home. Now it is setting in my pole barn waiting for me to figure out what kind of top to put on it, so Ican't wait to see what you are going to do with yours.
