Lowering COG

Hi all, its been a while since I have been on here, but I know some thoughtful insight will come of it.

I have an 06 Manual Rubi LJ and she is heavy, as seen here on my site http://www.oao4x4.com/ I currently am running a 1''-1.25'' body lift and 1'' motor mount lift with a Teraflex belly up. I want to get rid of the body lift and not lower the center skid in the process. I have been thinking about doing it the way AEV tummy tucker works with some exhaust bracket modifying and dimpling the tub. I am curious if anyone has done the "no body lift" with the Teraflex product, or if I would be better off selling the belly up and getting a tummy tucker. For those of you with an AEV tummy tucker how happy are you with it?

Also, anyone here running no body lift with their Gen-right Safari tank, I have one of those on there as well.

The 03-06 jeeps are pretty tight around the fuel tank. You might have to drop the fuel tank slightly ( 3/8-1/2" ) to get everything to clear without a body lift. The safari tank probably complicates things just a little bit depending.....

The AEVNth tummy tucker is a pretty nice unit. In general with the shape of the Tera belly pan your probably not going to be able to get the larger Rubicon transfer case to clear the flat bottom of the t-case skid. The AEV unit has a small additional sump in this area for the Rubicon transfer case. The AEV unit also doesn't have the side to side brace right under the transmission mount like the Tera unit. That could make for another small issue. The AEV unit is pretty tight in the area around the 6spd manual drain plug if I remember right also.....

All in all with your Jeep, are you thinking about ditching the roof top tent, roof rack, and high mounted fuel cans in an effort to bring the center of gravity down and forward also? I just don't know how much difference just dropping a 1" body lift is going to have on a vehicle with that much weight up high?

Well, to be honest, I don't know either but I'm not really doing it just for the cog. It would be real nice to get in the garage without the top of the tent rubbing the weather striping every time I pull in and out. The T-top tent walls will benefit by having the loops closer for staking and the same goes for the awning setup.

As far as the COG goes, I can't help but think that lowering 1500 + or - lbs 1.5'' has to help.

I had the Nth Degree (AEV) tummy tuck on my 06 LJ Ruby, but I also had a 1" body lift. I was on 35" tires with a 4.5 AEV springs on Currie short arms. I never ever felt that the CG was too high unless I was doing really stupid stuff in the boulder fields :-)

I have often wondered how much the 1.25" BL helps with all the heat sources under your feet. I have a 1.25" BL with the smaller 231 T- case and my floor gets hot now. Muffler shop guys think 1" makes a difference for heat issues.

Just something I have been thinking about as I am moving my T-case up 2 1/2 inches with a UCF 2" std belly up skid....

Wow you still park in your garage. I'd say just pull the weatherstripping if it bothers you that bad, and replace it with a thinner piece of foam.
