Non-tacticle ccw

Maybe its just me but I see a man purse and I say this guy has something of value and not necessarily a CCW. Looks to inviting and easy to get to the wrong crowd IMO. Why not just a small personal carry, I find it undectable in any pocket.

a guy out with two little kids in tow has to have a bag almost I think a single guy with a bag looks funny for sure a dad with kids I think it can blend in enough these days

A lot of people carry some sort of 'purse' - dad or not. School, work and our digital lives consume space. I see a lot of folks with packs in Target and at restaurants etc.and nowadays no one really gives it a second look if it's not festooned with mole webbing and GLOCK patches. I want one thing to carry all my gear, water and a ccw when merited that will allow for my current inventory of gear and blend in. As someone said, I want a pedestrian pack and will make it work vs. advertising via a tacticool anything.

I either carry my OGIO Metro backpack, Camelback Mule, a Maxpedition Falcon II, or an Osprey messenger bag when i need to carry off my body.

The problem with 5.11 covert is every tacticool minded guy and gal (cops etc.) will know it, defeating the purpose to a degree.

I have ordered the Blade 24 and will post pics once it arrives. A lot of folks use it for ccw and it blends in with the outdoor crowd, metro casual crowd and the school crowd pretty well. Well, at least from the photos I've seen online.

This question gets brought up all the time in the camera forums when folks are asking about being able to carry their expensive camera gear without telling people they're carrying it. Something I've thought about, had others say it works great and can see how indiscreet it would be would be to use a diaper bag.

No one would give it a second look even if you're not carry a kid with you. Cops would never look at it, thugs wouldn't even notice it and they come in all sizes, colors and looks. If I was going to carry one, I'd probably make it look as girly/babish as possible so people would just think "He's going to pick up his kid" when in reality I'd have my camera, my Glock and what ever else I'd be carrying with me

depending on how you are using your camera gear once you pull that big white lens out of a baby bag the gig is up !!!!
if I am out street shooting (dont really do that anymore) I tend to have my camera at hand or tucked in a jacket etc...
so the guy with no kid nice camera in hand and baby bag ? I think in reality it then is OH he has gear in his baby bag
I would rather just use a normal day pack etc..

being a pro photographer and having lived in Central America and South Pacific islands like Micronesia etc.. I think just protecting your gear and carrying in what works is key
shooting with less gear or no big white lens can be more stealthy and not bringing every piece of gear is what I have done over the years of shooting
when I lived in Central America and did some street stuff since I lived their I had more local clothing I bought their so my shoes pants etc.. looked like a local white guy at least I tend to let them get dirty and I smelled kinda unshaved not clean so looked like a poor expat bum and tried to be discreet with my gear in a old beat up day bag and I traveled by public bus everywhere for a month straight doing this up through Guatemala and never got a second look the camera I used was my nikonos with 35 mm lens this was film days so small discreet camera I left my N90s and big gear at home

stealth modes can be handy though coleman coolers at the beach are a good example ! also people dont usually break in trucks to steal coolers that is one thing I used to use to drop my gear bag into !
at the beach it gives you a place to sit the sand has a long way to travel up and into the lid so your gear stays cleaner ! you can stand on it you can pose people on it if you want to do more formal sitting type shots to get above them a bit the ones with wheels actually roll on the sand and if you are taking pics and busy its big easy to see so hard for someone to grab and run with it
