Sony just announced new cameras built around its second generation APS-C 16 MP CMOS sensor. The cameras are the NEX F3 mirrorless rangefinder, and the SLT A57 DSLR. Both have a MSRP of $600, including an 18-55 zoom lens. Lots of other prime and zoom lenses are available at additional cost.
The NEX F3 has a 3 inch, 900K dot LCD. The SLT A57 boasts an electronic viewfinder with fast refresh and 1440K dots, plus a relatively low resolution 2.7 inch LCD.
Pundits immediately pointed out that the $600 price for the NEX F3 is about what the street price is for the NEX N5. So expect the F3 price to fall rapidly.
