    This is exactly what I've been thinking of, the price some of the companies charge is ridiculous! I would love to see a build thread if you do decide to make your own pop top!

    Thanks to all those who have so far replied to this discussion. I am of the opinion that most pop top/elevating roof conversions, although attractive, are way overpriced, and that is why I am cosidering building my own......keep your ideas coming folks, if it does happen, I will fully document it here.......

    There is a member here that does this. DSW4x4 is his screen name, he also has a company Colorado camper Van. Give him a look, he does great work!

    He does indeed do great work, however, the OP, and presumably his LR, are in the UK!

    being that the roof on a landy is bolt on that mulgo type roof would be very easy to do

    Even if you can't weld aluminum- the basic structure could be done with angle- sheet and pop rivited together and then the stress parts welded.

    If I had a vehicle with a roof that came off -I'd be all over this

    An RTT is nice - but this type of pop up is awsome
