Defender 110; vs Range Rover classic

Dale, I can't imagine how you can make that statement! Having a 110 myself, and being in the military with a bujillion miles in military HMMWV's, I have a spent a good many of those miles wishing I was in my 110, and recalling how much more comfortable thohse washboard roads would be in it. LI have never ridden in a civilian H1, but my understanding is they are almost exactly like the military ones with the exception being some interior refinement. Way louder than a 110 and bone jarring due to their extremely stiff suspension.

Yes civilian HUMMER H1 IS exactly the same as military humvee .but has much more comfortable seats( made in germany it says on mine.i checked on line its from city bus amazing comfortable ) and sound proofing.driven many other trucks i think it is one of the most comfortable 4x4 but nothing close by to classic range rover. I havent been in defender so i cant say
If H1 is softer than defender but i would assume they would be the same since they are made to take loads

So i am looking for one.to import should i get one with 300d or 20o i have no idea about land rover diesels. Or get one that needs

new 6.2 turbo diesel? Body work is no problem at all. Whay about 130?to long?

I love my 110 but if I lived in a country that had low to zero rust RRC's and cheap fuel, it would be an RRC every day

Mark, I guess the ergonomics is more what I am referring as I fit much better in the H1. Noise, about the same, but the ride of the H1 was better to me. I drove mine to Az and up and down the east coast a bunch- it felt much less choppy.

There are many arguments concerning 200/300, but the 300 is the later evolvement and quite robust for longevity, though a bit anemic- especially in a 130!! Mark has the 2.8 and can address it better than most anyone. Felix has the 6.2, and yes it fits as dimensionally not much bigger than the Rover V-8.

You really need to at least drive/sit in them all. Even the 130 has a couple less inches in the back seat than the 110s as the frame and resultant floor area changes. The above analysis about space/storage configuration is pretty spot on, as well as the axle/suspension differences. The 130 rides much better than a 110 as the rear springs are the same, but wheelbase increases 20". Downside for the 130 is maneuverability on tight trails, though climbing ability is enhanced. Always trade offs...

I spoke with an owner last night in england he wants 4700 British for it its 87 red new motor stick shift. I forgot to ask if its 300 or 200 with shipping and papers i should be under 10 grand .not bad huh?

And a decent rust free '87 Classic is like gold dust!

IMHO the '87 is the best year; with hairy non electric seats, leccy windows and a 2.5TD (VM) that needs to be taken out and replaced with a 200Tdi

U can find 100% rust free classics in west cost all day long. I have 1990 almost brand new cond. I am gonna give it as agift to my doctor friend. She loves old rovers
I know ahe is gonna keep her much better than i do

I haven't used them, but others have and he seems to have a pretty good reputation. If I remember correctly, they'll even do mild builds for you so you can get the configuration you want.
