RockyRoad outfitters?

I have been excited to purchase an ARB bar and OME complete kit from rock road, because total shipped and all it's about 1700 bucks. But lately i have heard from assorted people to stay away from rocky road. I just want to know why, and if anyone has any personal experience with them. I have heard of all the glory from Sierra expeditions , but it is just cheaper at rocky road. Any info is much appreciated, thanks.

I bought my OME suspension from them, and it was an OK experience, the issues I had I won't place squarely on them. When I ordered my kit, it was right around Christmas time, so that delayed things a bit, and then ARB was phasing out the old shocks, and the new shocks hadn't been shipped from Australia yet, so I had to wait for the new shocks to arrive, all in all, from when I ordered my shocks/springs, to when I received them was close to a month, but I don't blame Rocky Road for that, it was just a bad mix of circumstances, at least that's how I feel. I would call them and order over the phone, and ask them for specifics on when you'll receive your order, you could also call ARB USA, and make sure they have your parts in stock, so that when you'll know that Rocky Road won't have to wait to get it.

I bought sliders for my X from there and to have them build them and arrive at my house was less than 2 weeks. Every other place quoted me over a 3 month turn around time

I just got through dealing with Rocky Road Outfitters. I too had heard various reports on their service and delivery time, but went ahead with a purchase of a set of supersliders for my Gen. III.

I ordered them through the web site on May 14th (never even phoned Glen the owner).
My order arrived at my house on the evening of May 22nd. It was the fastest turn around ever when ordering parts from an out of state rep.

I hear horror stories every now and then, but the local Suzuki owners really like them. I had one of there budget boosts on my Liberty and it was terrible. I went through a whole front end in 30K miles. I personally would not hesitate to use them again even though I had issues with my Liberty. The issues I had were they had a bad supplier for their budget boost. I never had to deal with them because I bought the vehicle with the lift brand new from the dealer. The dealer covered the costs and installed a new lift.

From my experience people use the internet to complain about stuff but they rarely use the internet to post their positive experiences.

I bought my ARB bull bar from them. It was painless, no drama. It was drop shipped from ARB in Washington to my work's dock, so they were just the middle man.

We bought a 2.5" lift for Marisa's Patriot from them - service was about average, but the quality of the parts was marginal, at best.

Obviously that wouldn't apply to parts that they are reselling (ARB, etc) - but the stuff that they make is pretty crude (IE: bolt holes that aren't round, nothing was deburred, etc).

Thanks guy, after hearing these things, I think I'm gonna stick with my original plan of going with rocky road. I don't mind waiting, I'm ini no crunch for time anything. When I do finally set the order, I'll be posting how it goes. Thanks so much for the help guys.

I'd bet a lot of the disappointment was due to miscommunication. Either from ARB or from RockyRoad. What I've found is that sometimes ordering ARB products entails an extended wait if the part is not currently in the US or on it's way here. Someone I know ordered an ARB Roof rack and it took months to receive because it was not in the states and he had to wait for it to be shipped from Australia. Good thing he was not only in communication with the reseller but also with ARB directly so he knew the status of the order/shipping.

You may want to do the same.

RR is crap. the biggest issues being in house quality, and customer service. neither are worth saving money for. good luck if you use them.
