I thought this was as good a place as any to post an introduction.
I have just had the good fortune of convincing my lovely wife to undertake a world overland trip though we will be working on a four year plan (leaving 2016 sometime).
We currently have a 2002 Landrover Discovery 2 and make frequent trips in SA to the Flinders Ranges, Coffin Bay, Yorke Peninsula etc but are looking at getting a Landcruiser and kitting it out for the big trip.
The plan is to do a AUS loop on the 1st leg: Flinders Ranges, Oodnadatta track, Simpson French Line, Innamincka, Bourke, Byron Bay, Fraser Is, Cape York, Savannah Way, Kakadu, Darwin, Bungle Bungles, Gibb River Road, Mitchell Falls, Broome, Cape Leveque, Ningaloo, Carnarvon, Geraldton, Perth.
Africa on the 2nd leg: South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, DRC, CAR, Cameroon, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Mali, Senegal, Mauritnia, Western Sahara, Morocco. (Route depends on political climate at the time obviously).
Europe 3rd leg: Portugal, Spain, France, U.K, Switzerland, Italy,Sloevnia, Croatia, Greece,
Asia 4th leg: Turkey, Armenia, Azerbijan, Turkmenistan,Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, China, Tibet, Nepal,, India, Bangladesh, Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China
Americas 5th leg: Alaska, Yukon, Canada, West Coast US, Baja, Mexico, Beliza, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Patagonia
Homeward 6th leg: NZ loop, Sydney, East Coast, Snowy mountains, Grampians, Coorong, home.
Rough as guts plan and a pipedream at the moment but at least I have the thumbs up from SWWBO.
I work in the wine industry and plan on having extended stops working harvest in a few places through contacts I have made (Stellenbosch, South of France, Santa Barbara, Mendoza).
So anyway....thanks for reading and that's what we are working towards.
