Yup, I like the color also. Am I right in assuming it's an LS model too. The seats are the kind sold with LS'. If it is an LS, then it should have a limited slip in back. I've done the rubicon in a 4 door using the LSD. Locked up nicely enough when needed.

1996 Montero SR (3.5L v6, rear Locker), 35" mudders, 3.15:1 xcase crawler gears

It will be a while before I paint it, perhaps the color will grow on me by then and I will keep the colors but refresh it with new paint.
It is now in my drive way. Time to take the wheels off my old Montero and swap them onto the new Montero. The 27" tires are nice for around town but what a drag it would be off road.

It is now registered in my name, insured and functioning as a daily driver.
The color has to go. Sitting in the driver seat and staring down at that white hood glaring in the Arizona sun is straining my eyes.

I am going to paint the hood a matte green soon while I save enough to paint the entire beast proper.

It really needs suspension, the shocks are worn just like the shocks on my 1989. Its not too noticeable until it goes over a speed bump or similar features in the road.
The rear end bottoms out on speed bumps.
Hazard switch will need replaced in the near future, there goes $60, and the AC switch might be going out as well, you have to push it just so to get it to engage.
Sun roof needs tuning to get it moving right again, in no hurry with that, its locked closed and the sun is blocked.

I do not care for the electric windows and locks.

The stereo is great. AC is cold and it feels like it just wants to cruise from place to place and not be hurried.

Very happy with it so far.

I just bought my first 1st gen too. I was actually looking at that rig too so I am glad it went to someone who deserves it! What mods are you planning on doing? Have you found a good roof rack? I have been looking at ARB or Diamond Rax, but I am trying to spend a little less on the rack.

Still designing my roof rack, going to be a challenge with the sun roof and the odd slope but if I can do Xterra roof racks then I can certainly do Montero racks.

Swapped the larger tires off my 89 Montero to the 91 and it cured a lot of the bounce problems I was having with the worn out suspension but its time.

Ordering OME suspension, shocks, springs and torsion bars.

The passenger side makes some crazy sounds so I am wondering should I be replacing bushings? Is there a good after market source for bushings?

I'm selling my truck so I'll probably not be in the market anymore.

I bought it as a project vehicle and put a bunch of money into to make it nice. However, my son was born 4 months early last year and his medical bills are killing me. He's doing great now, but 5 months in the NICU can add up. Check it out in the for sale section on expo.
