I had a Gobi on my JKU and loved it. I wanted one for my LR3, but they don't make one. I had a few other setups before the Gobi, and the Gobi was by far the best fitting and best functioning.

Any thought on the Body Armor brand?

    Default Gobi Racks.

We carry the Gobi Racks, because they are hands down the best JK rack on the market. AEV has a rack coming out soon, which will undoubtedly be a high quality piece but all of the spy shot images I have seen show that they are not full length racks.

For boat carrying the Gobi is the way to go. I have had both standard and ocean kayaks as well as a 26' rowing 1x shell on long distance trips with no issues. I went with the Gobi Stealth on our JK because it would allow a level mounting surface for boats and the like. Here are a few shots with various things on the rack. The Gobi can handle all of your needs!

I picked up my 2007 JKUR on mothers day 2007.
I needed the Jeep to carry alot more gear within a month of picking it up and the only rack out there at the time was Garvin.

While the finish on the rack..lets just say SUCKS. The customer service has been bar none the best i have dealt with in years. About 2 years after purchasing the rack through Teraflex. I had the bulb in the license plate light go out and with 1 phone call to their office in So Cal, they shipped the entire plastic assembly to me at no charge.
Ill be the first to admit i overload my rack. I do not want this story to put any doubts in your mind regarding the product but as i mentioned i overload my rack and use it to my fullest requirment.
I ran into an issue with the rear support arms pulling through sheetmetal at the joints. I contacted Garvin with the help of Teraflex we worked out a deal for me to take a few pictures and get them to Garvin and they would make it right.
My fix was to add 2 more supports to the rack just behind the rear doors.
I purchased the arms from Garvin at a reduced price and modified them myself to fit.
I was really happy with the results. In fact i ended up with some very sturdy steps as well as 2 spots to carry jerry cans.
Garvin and Teraflex got me a great price on the AEV crush corners to cover the distressed Jeep steel and make the rack bullet proof.
Since then i have had not had one issue at all with the rack.

Main Line, do you guys carry the Gobi awning brackets? Are they somewhat universal?

Honestly, I don't like the looks of the Eezi-Awn.

Yes we do. They are specified for ARB awnings which we also sell, but they could be used to mount other brands likely.

If you saw the Eezi-Awn in person, the quality construction, and the ease in which you can setup camp, I think you would be impressed. You can't beat the comfort factor as well (my wife likes camping more because of it, haha!)

I'm on year 3 with the gobi stealth and have logged freeway miles with a canoe and big ocean fishing kayaks - rock solid, no problems, finish still looks new. I use Yakima mounts on the gobi crossbars - perfect fit (including the ski mounts in the winter). Gobi racks are spendy and heavy but well worth it. Lots of great box, gear, light and antenna mounting options is a bonus. I ordered factory direct and had a great experience. This is on a 2009 JKU Rubicon.

Yes they are currently using a track system. From my understanding Jeep changed the hard tops and they now do not have a double section on the sides of the hard top (if that makes sense). I can take some pictures tonight if you would like.

    Pics would be great

I am finding on various sources on the interwebs that Jeep says don't put anything on the roof. Yakima rain gutter mounts would be a cheaper alternative, but some say it is a no-no on the freedom top.

I know I keep going back and forth here but the around the top racks are quite clunky and I am concerned with garage egress...

No noise/no vibration, will hold over 700lbs stationary and 350lbs mobile-however

It stays with the top, can't be used when you go topless, so that can be a major concern-

I can drive my jeep in/outta my garage, with both the rack/boat on top--(93")-

Quadratec sells it as the "Off Camber Rack"-

    A thought-
