Finally got the XL650 out to stretch her legs on a camping trip with Flounder and Matt this weekend.

Ray - How do you like her? I have been lusting over the Ktm 690....For some reason the Honda is not doing it for me....Still looks like a farm bike....

    Let me know.

    Uh, yeah, about the Honda...

Don't get me wrong, it's a very capable reliable bike. Like buying a Land Cruiser.

...but I am more of a Defender guy.

I guess the telling statement would be, I always buy Triumphs and Yamahas because I want a bike with soul, my wife wants basic reliable transportation, and she always buys Hondas.

I am not a huge fan of the 690 either, looks wise.

For pure bike sexiness I would go for a second hand 2005-2007 ktm 640 with the full rally fairing...

Depends on how they have been used. I have an 01 Adventure but have a really bad thing for the 05-07 640 Adventures.

the exhaust, jets, intake and a front sprocket took the bike from fun to amazing on rides. it has way more low end on it and grunts right through where before I was searching for a lower gear. I think MSRP is about 5099$ or something like that plus they try and hit you with shipping and assembly. usualy another couple hundred. Oregon does not have sales tax. so if you got a brand new 12' for under 5k out ther door I would think you would be doing alright.
07' 6sp Nismo, Titan Swap front with PRG uppers and remote res Sway aways, Deaver custom pack in the rear with 1.5" longer HD shackles, Hankook MT 285/75R16, Volant intake w/AirFlow Snork, Gibson Cat Back Exhaust, SuperChip, Otpima Red Top/Xpower dual battery set up, XM and GPS, KMA front bumper, Custom Sliders, Custom skid plates, custom rear bumper with tire carrier, Warn xd9000i hitch winch (front or back hook up), softtopper.
