custom T-100 bumper build project

Hi Everyone,
I have not been posting here much, usually just lurking and drooling. The guys on MUD know me and I'm probably too well known by the Coastal Cruisers in Vancouver, BC
I've done fabrication for ages, all custom stuff, truck, brackets for work, etc. Always has been weekend type of work on the side lines. Due to recent changes in life I have shifted focus more on the fabrication end of things recently.
One of my new customers has a Toyota T-100, a great truck, and has requested a rear bumper, I was shocked to see the large lack of anything out there.
So I started designing something off the original mounting. Now, sadly, he doesn't allow me to totally play with his truck, so I have to abide by the following criteria, a 6" wide step (way too much for my liking, but he's the boss), a class 5 hitch or equivalent (easy enough), no swing outs ( ), and make it durable (easy). So here is the current design, still waiting on last, small change suggestions from the client, but overall, that's the idea. Currently, the setup consists of a hidden receiver mount, with top access plate for receiver pin, holes for safety chains, 7 pin connector mount, jack all slots on the corners, lots of support internally for stability and durability.
I'll post up pics once it is going ahead and the fun welding stuff starts.

Looks nice! Hopefully you get a customer with a first gen Tundra, also lack of anything for the bigger brother. Keep us posted!

The only friend I had with a Tundra, sold it. Maybe I'll get one through the door. I did do a very custom build for an FJ Cruiser and since have gone back to the drawing board on that one but I think I am almost ready to start making som of those again. The thing is that it requires the rear cross member to get cut out, but we ended up gaining about 5" clearance (including the rear receiver) and a much nicer departure angle. I had to learn a little more of the program I was using before I was able to finalize it but I think I'm getting there.

I know it has been a while, but the bumper is finished.
There were some issues with clearance but after everything got worked out, the powdercoat went on and the 2 most important things were accomplished:
1 - the customer was very happy
2 - the bumper is built to the highest standards and will meet and exceed what it was designed for.

Now I have a template for a T-100 Pick up rear bumper.

seems like all the great bumper builders are not around me. im in central California. i have a 88 4runner and been in need of a rear bumper with tire carrier.
i want it to almost look like the factory bumper but made of real steel.

That's funny, because, as a fabricator, seems all the suppliers of the cool toys like swingouts parts and locks are in the US. I don't have any designs for an older 4runner, but I am sure there are some very talented guys in your vicinity. Have you tried visiting other forums like OFN? there are tons of great fabricators on there from all over the place. I am sure you could find someone relatively local. Good luck.

theres a few guys i wanna drive to so i can get one built. not too many people build/use plated bumpers on 1st gens because it starts to out cost the price of the vehicle. i already have a arb front and need a similar matching rear bumper. wish a company like arb had one in production that matched!!
