    The only one to consider was the diesel version , which IIRC did not go to USA . But all can have probs with viscous unit and in turn the IRD . esp after 70000miles

    My understanding, from talking to the master mechanic at the dealership I use, is the LR2 is profoundly more reliable than the Freelander. The two cant be compared...other than one (FL) is a piece of **** and the LR2 definitely is not. The LR2 seems nice; I have driven it as a loaner. I just wish it had more rear "boot" space and more space in the center.
