    Default MacBook Air upgrade announced

At the recent WWDC conference, Apple announced updates to the MacBook Air laptop. The processor was upgraded to Intel's third generation Core i5 and i7 processors, and a faster solid state disc was added. The onboard Facetime camera resolution is now 720p.

Screen size and resolution options remain the same. Prices hold steady, too, starting at $999 for the model with an 11 inch screen. [Update: That's actually a $100 price drop.]

These days, the MacBook Air has competition from products based on Intel's "Ultrabook" model. Here's an article that compares several of the Ultrabooks with the new MacBook Air

The iFixIt folks have posted an illustrated tear-down of the new MacBook Air. Looks like the Air is much easier to service and upgrade than the MacBook Pro with Retina display.

Yeah it's too bad they didn't at least keep the RAM and SSD easily upgradable. I would have at least bought the 768GB SSD if it was in a 2.5in form factor. I just want a bigger HD to keep all my stuff on.
