    Default Snorkel for Disco 1

I want to put a snorkel on my Disco 1. Does anyone have experience with the Mantec, Southdown, or Terrafirma Snorkels? I like the idea of these designs vs the plastic sort that Rovers North sells, but I cannot find any information regarding how difficult these are to install.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

No biggie at all- easier than threading an NGT for sure!! I have a D-I fender (green though) with the cutout already done which is the scary part. In fact, come on down to NC, visit a couple other ER RNs, and we'll knock it out in an hour or two.

Hey brother the safari snorkel is not as bad as some people say lol I'm loving the disco! Not too many lifted discos on here like ours. I guess myself and partner (we are medics) and we will have a small pilgrimage of emergency personnel to get you a snorkel installed lol

The Mantec looks the best, IMO. It's relatively discrete and fits the lines of the truck very well.

Got a mantec on mine; didn't install it but have swapped it from one truck to another (both Epsom Green so the fender just went with it.) The cut in the fender isn't that bad (and cutting the bodywork on a Disco is dead easy).

Personally I think it looks the best, just don't like the long plastic piece on the Safari snorkel.

Thank you all for the replies! This is starting to sound doable

Sorry for the late reply - was without power for days after the big storm! I'd love to come down & visit & knock out the Snorkel install sometime. What part of NC are you in? I work 3rd shift at Halifax Regional ER in South Boston VA.

I have a Southdown, and it was easy to install using the instructions and templates supplied.
It suited my set up better as I have a second battery in the normal air intake area, and the flexi hose means you can allow for other bits of kit that may be in the way:-

    Cheers

Rob's post about the southdown style rings true for the mantec as well; on previous trucks I've stuck a 2nd battery there after removing and blanking the horn on the airbox. Threw some pics of mine in there as you consider options.

If you go with something that uses flexi-hose or whatever and want a spare airbox to modify before tearing into the truck, let me know-I've got a spare laying around (not the kind of thing I'll ever need a spare for). PM me and it's yours, good luck
