Default Would this 02 trd be a good buy?

Lookin to get out of my 89 xj and get a taco as my dd and camping rig. I know you can't see everything here, but does this look like a good buy? Click on the car fax link.

This has always been my dream truck. Not sure why I bought the xj, but I did. It was fun, now time to go. Too many issues. My 03 corolla has only had a coil pack go out. One set of tires, one set of brakes and a battery. That's all I've done beside gas and oil.

Seems reasonable to me. Not out of line at all.

I paid 15k$ for my 2001 DC 4WD TRD with 66k mi in February 2009, and felt perfectly OK with the deal. I had to put on my own ARB bullbar...

...who's had a 1988 XJ for 21 years as well. The Tacoma replaced a 1981 Toyota pickup and the XJ in my little fleet. The XJ had some advantages that the Tacoma won't ever replace. Mainly the interior secure storage -- I'm still working on an option for the Tacoma in this regard -- but I also love my XJ's Kaymar swing-out rear bumper. I love the Tacoma and appreciate its bulletproof reliability (just like the old p/u), but I'll sure miss the XJ when it's offered here for sale in the next few weeks.

    1891 Toyota....thats old.

As far as the truck goes, it looks like a decent deal to me. Its still a 10yo truck but those years were known to be very reliable. You can always talk them down a litte, but it wouldnt scare me to pay that much if the truck was in really good shape. With the mods I would check to make sure it hadnt been wheeled hard.

No rear locker button? Make sure it's a TRD. Also, I've heard from others that Texas flood cars can still hold a "clean title".

That is NOT a TRD version. The decals are way too high up, and there is no e-locker magic button. So, obviously someone,(probably the dealer) just slapped those stickers on to raise the price $2,500.

*I would stay away from it.*

Plus- it's dirty and dented, and in the 6th picture down, it looks like the passenger headlight is popped out a little. I bet that it was in a front fender bender, and fixed as cheap as possible. I bet the radiator support was bent, causing the headlight to stick out further than it should. That's probably why it has an ARB on it, to hide the poor workmanship.

Also, look at the 6th picture and the 7th picture, the fender to bumper gap on the drivers side is probably an inch, on the passenger side, the bumper is almost touching the fender.

Well, it seemed liked we'd had it in the family forever... (smile)

The observations about the rear e-locker button and the TRD decals are indeed a red flag. A Toyota dealer oughta be able to tell from the VIN if it's a TRD model -- the VIN code is probably online somewhere, too.

Dang!!! That's some good observation skills! I see the gap now. Car fax says it was a one owner lease from Laredo Texas. Then dealer sold it at auction.
