Just wanted to point out a couple points MAN v TATRA
MAN Kat1 etc 4x4 - 8x8 I.m a big fan of them, however they are conventional design beam axle trailing arms coil spring on ladder frame, need 3 - point mounting system of bodies like Unimog etc
Tatra is unique with its swing axle independent suspension, backbone drive-line, triangulated to ladder / boxed frame chassis means, body structures are isolated from torsional stresses and chassis flex common in nearly all trucks besides Tatra & Pinzgauer
Final note MAN spares prices make Tatra look like VW beetle range in comparison
[QUOTE=Joaquin Suave;1149358]T815, how difficult is it to get replacement / repair parts for the Tatras in the US?
Joaquin and anyone else interested,
I can provide anyone with any replacement/repair parts for any Tatra. Parts are shipped directly to customer.
I can also have any Tatra build to order exactly to customers specs and shipped to North America.
I work directly with the factory and with their main "upfitter".
Cheers, Tomas
Are saying there are factory options for Tatra to give 8x8x8 capability that has been around for years? The Dutch company I posted has been around for some time, I wasn't implying it was new, just that the rumours of Tatra (and MAN) doing factory rear axle steering on current models have not yet surfaced into a product as far as I can tell. Or are you agreeing that the technology has been around for years but only as an aftermarket option?
Could you explain the pricing you listed - whose pricing on what models?
Well its much stiffer than most but still by design will flex, I was at the UK DVD mil expo and took ride on the offroad course 1st T817 8x8 then the MAN 8x8, absolutely No comparison the Tatra was so much smoother & more capable the the MAN.
Tatra is the only platform I am aware that is fully trianglated hence naturally rigid hence very important issue for military missile systems etc
Tatra no, they have rear steer on 10x10 & 12x12 but not a full system as on Liebher or Faun 8x8x8.
The suspension is intergrated with the steering as a complete hydraulic system, this system to replace is $200k, MZKT in Belarus offer a 8x8x8 crane type cab & chassis truck, i got a price quote around 5 yrs ago of $490k
