Mt Rainier Wonderland Trail

Anyone here completed the 93 mile trek around Mt. Rainier? I plan to do it if I can ever find enough time to complete it. I've done small sections of it around Lake Mowich. I also plan on doing a summit run of Rainier when the opportunity arises. I have been as high as camp Muir, but never beyond there. Just getting to Muir is like being teased by the hot girl. I would love to hear your stories, see your pictures etc of both the Wonderland and/or your summit bid.

Never finished it but I have spent a week at a time on it staying in several camps.
This was back in the late 80s early 90s.

I will see if i can dig up a pic later from the Sunrise entrance.

Take a look at the northern loop trail. It is about half as long and much easier to find the time to complete. It is a beautiful trail that includes a nice portion of the Wonderland trail and has far less traffic. I completed it in 2 days (not recommended) and think I only ran into two or three other people along the way. This trail has great views of the mountain (skyscraper pass is awesome), beautiful meadows (Grand Park, Berkley Meadows), and a pristine mountain lake (Mystic Lake). Remember to check the current conditions as there are several sections that regularly wash out following the snow melt.

Forgot all about adding a pic.
This was back in the mid 80s or '88, and it was at the Tamanos Creek camp site at the Sunrise entrance to Mt. Rainier which has about 5 sites off of the Wonderland Trail.
I think the entrance to this is at the Owyhigh Lakes entrance.
Been far to many years to remember all the names.

When I was setting up my tent I had a feeling I was being watched.
I turned around and about 10' from me was a very HUGE elk just standing there eying me.

Gosh to be at that weight again :D
I was around 150 lb in that photo.

I've never hiked the trail, but my Grandmother Bette Filley has many times and is the Author of Discovering the Wonders of the Wonderland Trail

Many don't know that she was able to give such exact data of distances, etc. and updates due to the hard work of Beth Rossow. Beth is an extremely unique and interesting person. Here's a link for those that are interested:

My grams is getting quite old these days and AFAIK Beth has taken the reins with updating the book and all.
