I'd be interested in the name of the paint and floor sealer that you used on the roof.

Did you use marine hatches on the sides?
Thanks for the kind words. I couldn't find the info for the oil primer, but it was just that: an exterior grade oil primer, nothing fancy. After that, we rolled a topcoat of Devflex 4210 from Devcoe Coatings, described on the can as a "high performance waterborne acrylic eggshell". We only had time for one top coat before the maiden voyage, but we'll spray a few more on this week i think. The black trim detail is spray-on bed liner in a can. I think though that I am going to paint over it. The hatches are used hatches bought from an RV wrecker. The big one on the passenger side is pretty much brand new, and only cost $25 wheras the propane hatch cost $50.

    rolling,

Really cool build, it has inspired me a lot to build something similar. Have a couple of questions:

-About how much would you say the camper weighs?
-What thickness ply did you use on the exterior and interior?
-It is hard to tell, but it looks like you used some sort of heaver timber for the cabover section to support weight. How did you go about doing that?

Thanks! Any info would be much appreciated!

    Hey hoptroll,

I've been meaning to weigh the camper but have not got around to it. A very rough estimate would be around 400 lbs. But that's without anything built yet inside. On the exterior i used 1/4" luan (some sheets differed as much as a 1/16" in thickness) and 1/4" luan planed down to 1/8". In order to support the cab over I made two 5" beams by laminating two strips of 5/8" spruce ply per side. These beams run from the rear top corners of the camper to the front of cab-over.

Im in the design stages of a project. I am really into the design that you have and I want to build something very similar. I was curious how the camper has held up. Any cracks or anything like that from flexing? Any leaks in the roof system? I was hoping you could post more pictures of it in the finished stages, specifically the roof design (hing system, sealing, gas struts, etc.). More pics would be awesome! Thanks for the info to this point, it has been very helpful.
