By the way if anybody interested in anything around Columbus i can check it out and send close up pictures

Thanks for the offer! In a few more weeks the funds should be coming together so I'll keep you in mind.

My only question for you, is why haven't you bought that Yellow demon yet?!

BOPOH, that looks nice by I think I see signs of rust on pass side rocker and there is what looks like a rust line behind the drivers side rear mudflap. If it were closer I would look at it.

That is indeed rust on the rocker, but the gunk behind the mudflap is just the adhesive for it.

If you've looked for a full-size Montero in Los Angeles in the past month [likely longer] you'll have seen this ad... we went to see it.

The owner will not budge on the price... he knows what he wants, and he will hold until until his wife absolutely demands getting a new vehicle for herself. This Montero was/is used as a daily child delivery system [to/from school], and it shows. He is the second owner, for about 8 or 10 years, having purchased at about 73,000 miles. Spent most of its life up in the Bay Area, before relocating to SoCal a few years ago.

1] The timing belt has never been changed since he has owned it... according to him, basically nothing has ever needed to be done.
2] Tires are old, will requiring replacing this year [unless you plan on only driving around the neighborhood].
3] Ignition has issue; you turn the key to the "on" position, then you twist it to engage the starter.
4] Could not find any leaks... plenty of dirt/ dust under the hood.
5] The pictures are much better than the actual vehicle...
6] Paint would require a serious detailing, to include a clay-bar treatment... not too much clearcoat peeling, minimal dings/ dents.
7] The beige carpet is soiled, likely beyond help... the seats are more worn than shows in pics, but do not have big rips/ tears.
8] Most everything works fine, but the A/C is tired.

I've seen worse... the guy is a decent person... he's just not interested in selling it for anything less his asking price [he wouldn't even budge to $3600 - no, wasn't going to get me to hand over that much]. Also, it is rather difficult to contact him... several back & forth e-mails... if anyone wants, I do have his phone number.

Be careful out there...

Thanks for saving me the trouble. I was going to go check that one out as I've seen it on CL for the last 3-4 months. Not surprised that the guy isn't budging on price. I assumed that's why it was still up.

....the search continues...

I doubt you'll find one in better condition, for the year... very unmolested! Stored inside a garage in Bel Air... it really doesn't get much better [Beverly Hills is low rent compared this zip code]. If we weren't leaving for CR in a few days [business/ family crap] we would snatch it up in a heartbeat.

There's bunch of full size Montero's for sale on Chicago's craigslist.
I also passed a used car dealer with a green Montero for sale on Fullerton Ave in Chicago, that I didn't see on CL before.

Just some general info for out of mid-west buyers.

I personally don't mind picking up my cars from far out locations. I picked up my wifes current car 1300 miles away from home :)
If the price is right...the rest can be worked out.

Yup, I'm looking at 3-4 very strong candidates for purchase in the next two weeks. Waiting for the next paycheck to come in before I pull the trigger:
