Quick trip to the Mexico border

This was a quick trip some of my friends and I took to the Mexican border. There were some beautiful locations, and quite a bit of water given we were in the desert.

That's Montezuma Pass/Coronado Monument and Campini Mesa south of Montezuma Canyon Road.

You don't want to be there at night.

I've done LP/OPs there back in the early 90's.

A lot of dope gets walked up and over the overlook and into the Huachuca Mountain Range via Coronado National Forest trails.

The overlook is safe during the day.

Jim-- But surely things are different now, it must be much safer. Surely our government protects us from all foreign invaders.

Very nice pics. Watch your back. Apologies for my digression.

Looks like a fun outing. There are quite a few interesting areas to explore here around CA along the border as well. I hope you weren't hassled by any Border Patrol agents out there.

We had no issues at all. We were fully aware of what happens at night...the Border Patrol had a certain presence, but they did not bother us at all.

Xterable-no worries, haha.

In the pic of Montezuma Pass, that shows the switchbacks going down, My dad lives there, right where you can see the tree line meeting the grass lands in the picture. I grew up there. When we moved there in '71, the house was a mile east of the park boundry. Then in the '80's, the park service and forest service traded land, which move the boundry a mile east of Dad's house, to where it is today. Now my parents are in-dwellers in the park, one of two permanent residences inside the park. These are two pics taken from the upper end of their driveway, just south of the park road (Montezuma Rd):
